What is like to play in the NCAA? How do you navigate the recruitment and commitment process? How do you maintain a scholarship? The NCAA is an American organization that is comprised of over 1100 member colleges and universities spanning three divisions, with more than 460,000 athletes competing in 24 sports annually. With many rules, regulations, and policies in place, it can be challenging to understand how the NCAA system works, and how you can navigate the recruitment and commitment phases. Breanne Watson, a former NCAA Division I basketball player with the University of Washington Huskies, and now the Associate Director of Athletics at Simon Fraser University, will share her experience with and knowledge of the NCAA system. Details will include how the recruitment process works, the difference between Division I and II programs, and how to obtain and maintain a scholarship. Following this, hear about Breanne’s experiences as a student-athlete in the NCAA, including everything from recruitment, commitment, and playing experience.
